The capital and principal city of Zambia is Lusaka. It is one of the highest growing residential cities in Africa and it is sited in the southern part of the innermost plateau of country with an altitude of 1300 m. It has residents of 1,084,703 according to 2000 poll and it is also a marketable center as well as center of administration with four main highways of Zambia spread out north, south, east, and west from it.
Lusaka is named after a very renowned man who according to the history used to live at Manda Mountain and acted as the head man of this district which was earlier a township but these days National Assembly Building of Zambia is also standing there. Lusaka remained the center for the national moment of self-government which was direct by some knowledgeable leaders of the area which later led to the independence of Zambia.
